National Pig Day!

March 1st is National Pig Day. First created in 1972 by two sisters, Ellen Stanley of Texas and Mary Lynne Rave of North Carolina, the day celebrates and appreciates one of the most intelligent of the farmyard animals—the pig. Brookfield Zoo was celebrating the day with pig inspired events. We were supposed to go with C and her kids but she ditched us. :( We went anyways but missed out on all the pig stuff. We did see one pig but he was a bit sickly looking. Anyways we still had fun.

Bananas Foster is YUM-O!

I've never had bananas foster and when it was in Everyday Food and seemed super easy to make, I decided to give it a go. It was so easy to make and SOOOOOOOOOOOO good.

All you need are bananas, brown sugar, rum and ice cream.

What's up with the duck and pig?

Back in the day, when we were 16, there was this cartoon called Tiny Toons. My best friend C loved Plucky the duck and his pal was Hamton the pig. So that's when the pig infatuation started and has been going strong since. BTW, I still sleep with Hampy. He's so cute and cuddly. :D

I pulled these descriptions from Wikipedia, do they fit us?

Hamton's role in the series is as a straight man, with his personality dominated by tendencies toward being bookish and obsessively neat. However, when Hamton's patience is pushed too far, he is known for angry fits that surprises the human source of his frustration. Some of his madness-inducing moments involved such incidents as being unable to open a new school-issued locker or failing in an attempt to cook a lobster. Hamton's best friend, Plucky Duck, often attempts to take advantage of Hamton's easy going nature, with Plucky often using him as his sidekick in his various scatterbrained schemes.

Plucky Allen Duck is a fictional green duck who appeared in the 1990s animated series Tiny Toon Adventures. Plucky, a teenager, is portrayed on the series as a greedy, egotistical, and easily excited young duck, who would often engage in various schemes with the goal of either personal glory or satisfying some personal whim. These schemes ranged from inventing a time machine to delay doing his own homework to traveling to Hollywood in an ill-fated attempt at selling his life story as a movie. His schemes often failed because his ego got in the way or because a guilty conscience got the better of him (as was the case when he attempted to cheat on a test and subsequently went insane as he brooded over the morality of his actions). Babs once aptly described him as "the silly green duck with an ego the size of Cleveland."

Purple food anyone?

Rachel Ray makes her food look good all the time. Here I go trying out another one of her recipes for Venetian Mac & Cheese, sounds good but does it taste good? It sure doesn't look appetizing. The recipe called for radicchio but they didn't look so good at the store that day so I decided to use purple cabbage. Who knew that it would turn EVERYTHING purple. Even though it wasn't the prettiest picture it sure was yummy!

My new office.

Today I started as Manager of Electronic Services and moved into my new office. Check it out. I have a hanging plant to the left and a floor plant to the right. I also have two pieces of artwork on the walls. The view isn't too bad either except that I see all the delivery trucks come and go.

Sniff Sniff, why are you crying?

I subscribe to Everyday with Rachel Ray, so with the day off I decided to be ambitious and make onion soup. It wasn't too bad, but the best part was the crusty bread and cheese on top. YUM-O!

Let's grow some hair...

You know how stores like to put knick knacks at the checkout aisle to get you to spend more money, well they got me! I saw this cute little thing and just had to bring him home. It's called a Munakuppi. It'll grow hair and then you can style it however you want. I also got him a friend, a duck for my best friend C. Stay tuned to see their progress.

Weber Grill

YUM. J and I had celebrated our Valentine's Day the weekend before with lobster tail and king crab legs. On the actual day we had PIZZA! And the following weekend to celebrate my Dad's birthday, which is on Valentine's Day we went to Weber Grill. It was delicious, I had prime rib, J had a BBQ combo, my Dad had a ribeye and my Mom had blackened catfish. We also had a wedge salad, a super delicious mango-passion fruit margarita, warm apple pie and J had a port.

Grandma A's birthday present

This year for Grandma's birthday, I decided to be really creative. Since she likes roosters and we couldn't be there for the celebration, I thought we would send her a special birthday wish. Here's how it turned out.

To DM we go again!

We went to DM to celebrate N and M's birthdays. We had cake and opened presents at R&M's house and then had dinner at Michael's. Check out the special birthday singing that is tradition.

After that we had homemade ice cream that the boys made. It was great!! Apparently Jar Jar really likes it.
We played Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games all Saturday night at J&N's. I beat the boys in the Dream Racing a few times. We were all a bit sore at church the next morning. We also went to Michael's for breakfast. Can you tell Michael's is the favorite?

The other exciting thing that happened was R&M finally got a new PC!! No more rebooting 5 times before it will work! Yay!!

J and I had Monday off so we had lunch with K&B and then left for home. It took us 6 hours when it should have taken only 5. We had to detour cause part of the highway was closed and it was snowing so we were only going 50-60mph! Thank goodness for the portable DVD player!

Check out other pictures from the weekend.

Well, still no jeans. :( I will have my own office with a door and a view. I start on 2/19. Yippee! I'll let you know how it goes. It will be interesting as the marketing department is all women!

Happy New Year - a little early.

Since I had to work on New Years eve, we went to our friends C&C's house on 12/30 and toasted at midnight and played Wii and board games.

That's me, the floating glass.

Check out this video, we were playing Cranium WOW and the boys got a Star Performer question where one person can only use the other person to act out the clue. Can you guess what the answer is?

Answer: Milking a Cow

Xmas2007

Christmas is over, at least for now. Soon it'll start all over again! There were too many pictures to put on the blog so I've posted them in a web album. There's captions. :D

Xmas2007

We were in DM and had a lot of fun. We stayed at K&B's house and shared our room with a little house guest. Just for taking up the bed, we had to do a little torturing.

Uncle B even tried out dancing!! He's dancing to Disco Inferno. Burn baby burn.

Jess also had a 14th birthday. As tradition goes, we had to sing Happy Birthday...waaaaay off key!
